Here's a little something about me...
I was born in Brazil. When I was about 11 years old, I became very interested in computers and software development right after being introduced to Sinclair Spectrums and MSX computer systems. Around that time, after watching a very cool movie named War Games I became really intrigued with online computing and Bulletin Board Systems (BBS). One year later, I was writing programs in Basic and Pascal just for fun and I am pretty sure I was one of the first kids in Brazil to have an actual modem device (a 300bps one) back in 1987.
I was 20 years old when I graduated from college, and 23 when I got an advanced (sometimes translated as Masters) degree in Analysis, Project and Management of Information Systems.
In 1998, in the mist of the first Internet bubble, I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and over the years I have worked for a lot of amazing companies: Deloitte Consulting, Transportopia, ModCloth, Lockerz, Vivísimo, and American Eagle Outfitters.
Between 2012 and 2014, I founded and took Meaningfy from concept to production while going through two startup accelerators. In March 2014 I co-founded OnlyBoth.
I love to innovate, research, brainstorm, architect, prototype, create, and develop awesome things.
I'm a creative entrepreneur with a solid background in technology; a computer scientist with a broad and strong set of skills, which includes problem solving, product development, product vision, data science/analytics and software architecture. For fun, I design, create, and hack hardware and software projects. I also enjoy playing guitar and drums, writing about tech, storytelling, creating artwork, songwriting, and collecting certain vintage computers.
I'm very curious, and easily intrigued by problems and challenges related to Data Mining, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Natural Language Generation, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Semantic Web, Cognitive Computing, Robotics, and Data Science.
